Finding Pins and Needles

Inspired by the fabric, I just had to do an apron for dolly. The pattern I used for the apron is from  Simplicity Sewing Pattern 2761 . As for the adorable retro baking fabric, I picked it up in a local fabric shop, it's  Paddington's Party, " Baking Ingredients on light blue".  The yellow and white dot fabric is part of   "Isn't Christmas Jolly"   by Mary Engelbreit. I wonder what Kit will cook up in her new kitchen getup...

I have a niece turning one and every little girl needs a dolly. I found the  "Jean"  pattern at  Bit of Whimsy Dolls  and fell in love. The pattern has simple directions and she's a super sweet doll. I found the pink flower fabric, "Flight of Fancy" at  Joann's .  It has the perfect scale for doll clothes.  

Another teacher gift... a pencil pouch. I've been holding on to these Michael Miller "Dick & Jane" fabrics for more than a year now. They were a great choice for a teacher gift, especially a Preschool teacher. I followed this Zippered Wristlet tutorial . I added the personalized felt monogram embellishment, easy peazy and it makes the gift more meaningful. The "Mrs." is done using a Threaded Backstitch . This was probably my biggest doll clothes challenge thus far, and certainly a hodgepodge of patterns. The skirt is from  Liberty Jane Patterns . This was my first time sewing pleats, it was time consuming, but the payoff feels great! The beret pattern is free and you can find it here . It's Molly's hat (I left off the loop on top) The long sleeved  blouse I patterned myself. The free  vest pattern and tutorial can be found here . The glasses can be found at  Hobby Lobby The chalkboard is clearly a cut of the vest fabric. I glued it on cardboard. Wubby (my 3 yr old) looooooves Wall-e. For Christmas he got a little Wall-e toy. But sadly, he has no Eve. He loves to pretend play while he watches the movie. In place of Eve, he was using a plastic pretend-play egg. It was pretty pitiful. So, if you look online for Eve action figures that size, the price is jacked up. Again, I'm cheap. But I did find this . They charge for the pattern, so I created my own . I used felt for the black on the eyes and hand stitched the blue eyes (I cut out the eyes on the template and traced them onto the felt) and the leaf emblem. Remember to cut out 2 Eve bodys and 4 arms. I just stitched the arms on afterward, but I've heard some people have used buttons, so the arms swivel better. Needless to say Eve was a big hit.
