Dolly Purse Freebie

The dress pattern can be found in this book: Sew the Contemporary Wardrobe for 18-Inch Dolls. It's worth it to buy the book, there are a ton of basic patterns that you can embellish. The dress pattern I used didn't have the gathered bodice or the belt loops. An easy addition!

The shirt pattern is free at Liberty Jane Patterns

I created the purse pattern. You can download it for free: pattern, instructions.

  1. Just got some canvas that you can have. Maybe you can make a purse or gym shoes?

  2. Doll Storage for Clothes
Use a pull piece of luggage (can be purchased at a thrift store). Drill a hole on each side of the handle on the top. Put a 1 3/4 or 2” eye-screw (which can be purchased at any local hardware store) thru one hole. (I put a locking nut on the top and a regular nut on the inside.) Put a piece of dowel (that has been cut to fit the inside) thru the hole in the eye-screw and then put the 2nd eye-screw on the dowel. This is the hard part – getting the 2nd eye-screw thru the top. (I hammered mine in.) Tighten down the lock nut. Your wardrobe holder is ready to use. The doll can be put in the zipper on the outside for transportation.

I can send pictures if anyone is interested.

Optional: Rectangle hole punch A little tip for the Jolly Rancher jar: I used a cut piece of paper towel roll to create the inside structure, it makes it much easier to create a design. I used pinking sheers to trim out the cardboard edges and then stuffed it full of more Jolly Ranchers.  Click for PDF. Stop sign card and mason jar top are for personal use only, do not redistribute. Personalized Pencil Drink Sleeve

It's important that we show the teachers in our kid's lives that they are appreciated. I wanted to make something personalized for their  Christmas gifts  this year and thanks to  Crafty Staci and her tutorial  I was able to come up with something pretty cute.

Staying Sharp: 5 Ways to Sharpen Your Sewing Tools

1. I'm willing to bet most of you have this first item and don't even know its true potential! Did you know ever notice that silly little strawberry hanging off your tomato pin cushion ? It isn't there just for looks (LOL), Mr. Strawberry is filled with something called "emery sand". I'm sure you have a few emery boards around the house or at the bottom of your purse to file your fingernails. Emery is also used to sharpen pins and needles and keep them free of burrs that will snag your fabric. 2. I'm going to be honest, my tomato pin cushion is hidden in the back of a drawer. Call me judgmental, but tomatoes are for my sandwich, not my sewing room. With a quick search of Pinterest  you can find some amazingly cute ideas for diy pin cushions. Check out my  pin cushion Pinterest board  for a start. Most cushions call for Fiber Fill , which is great, but for a sharper solution...fill your custom cushions with emery to sharpen your pins and nee
